Storyteller: Reading Skills

In the storyteller, Sage is in a very confused position. She still hasn’t made her decision on whether to send Josef to jail, or to save him and let the past be the past. I think that Sage might make the decision to have Josef sent to jail because of his deeds. He had killed many people for just their religion, wiped out almost all of the Jewish population. I don’t think Sage will let him get away with this crime. But why doesn’t Sage punish him quick? Why doesn’t Sage just send him off to jail for his terrible crimes?
Also, I think that Sage might let him go for his deeds because she has been through a grief of her own and she does regret that. She might also let him go because he has grown very close to her. Sage and Josef are close friends, sort of like a grandfather and granddaughter relationship. Plus, Sage doesn’t seem like a cruel person. She is very forgiving and very lenient to all. But if she were lenient, why would she have Josef on a lockdown mode? She is not letting him do much of anything but stay in a room with food and water.
Connections: This book reminds me of the War being discussed against Syria. The United States has been discussing on going to war with Syria but they are holding back on their decision, sort of like Sage holding back on her decision to punish Josef. They both are nervous on their decision making because they could possibly make the wrong decision. Also, this story reminds me of the book the Lightning Thief because Percy had to make a decision on whether to turn in the villain, Luke, or let bygones be bygones and join his side. In the Story teller, Sage also had to make a difficult decision on whether to turn in an old retired Nazi officer, or to let bygones be bygones and continue the friendship. Finally, the Story teller reminds me of the time when I was stuck to make a decision. I had to decide on whether to continue and talk to my friend after what she did to me, or continue to avoid her. I decided to continue to talk to her by letting bygones be bygones. We later then became best friends.

The Storyteller part 2: Book Referance

Sage continues to desifer weather to punish an old ruthless, murderous man, or to let by-gones be by-gones. I think that she should avenge her grandmothers death but not with such a horrible sentence. Sage should have revenge for he grandmothers grief and all the other millions of jews who lost thier lives for no reason at all. But she should also not over revenge. She shouldn't go all out and put him in a jail for years and years because he was forced to do his job. He was not an officer by his own will, but forced into doing it. Also, Josef has become really close friends to Sage, almost like a grandfather and his granddaughter. She should have some sympathy because if she did terrible things to Josef for being a Nazi Officer, then she would also be like a Nazi. Sage would be punishing someone who hadn't chose his own life, but was forced into it. But Sage is still pondering on these new details that have entered her life. What will she do next?

Word of the Day

Assailant(n)- attacker, enemy, someone who is against you, antagonist

You would us this word in the middle of the of the story or in the plot. You would use it to describe the person you are against.

storyteller

The book I'm reading is The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult. The book is about a lady who owns a bakery in a small town. She also attends grief meetings everyweek due to her mothers passing. One day while she was coming back from a greif meeting, an old man who also attends the meeting joins her on the walk back. Sage Singer and Josef Weber become good friends and close to eachother. But while Sage was baking. Josef comes in and asks for a favor from her, to kill him. Shoked, Sage tries to elaborate on this. But when Josef tells Sage he is a retired/ hiding Nazi officer, she begins to hate him. Sage's grandmother had been an old prisinor of Hitler. She is now stuck in a pickle of choosing a friend or to avenge her grandmother grief pain.

The Swimming Contest: Theme

The theme of The Swimming Contest is that winning isnt just about who crosses the finish line first, its also about who truly wins in happy times and in tragadies.

Interloopers

In our story, we changed some parts around to make the story more detailed and more engaging to the audience. Instead of having the history of the family come first in the plot, we had an action come first and then take it back to the history. After that, the story came back into reality and continued through the story. This change made story more important because it made it more engaging to the audience.

11 birthdays

11th Birthdays

The book I have read just to read is called 11 birthdays. I have finished the book but I would recommend it to anyone who would like a quick read. Its about two kids, Leo and Amanda, who were born on the same day, same hospital, but different parents. They have celebrated their first through ninth birthday together. But on the 10th birthday, Leo had crushed Amanda's feelings, and the two never celebrated together again. But destiny didn't like that. When the 11th birthday came, the day had repeated over and over again until the two didn't make up. I would give this book a 7 out of 10.
